Big Sean, Nipsey Hussle and Freddie Gibbs

Well, I listened to most of the Big Sean, Nipsey Hussle and Freddie Gibbs mixtapes. Heres what I think.

I listened to 'Uknowbigsean Vol 2' by Big Sean and it was alright. He's has his lyrical moments, his flow is pretty good and his beat selection is good. BUT, he does remind me of Drake quite a bit, he does indeed sound like him, but also his flow over certain beats sounds spot on to what Drake does. Now, if that's a good thing or a bad thing, is up to you. I will say he does have more 'street' lyrics in some of his songs, but still, Drake with far less buzz is fair comparison.

As for Freddie Gibbs, this guy could be really good. I listened to 'midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik' by him and it was really good for a mixtape, I would almost consider it a street album. His beat selection is really good, his flow is great(when I say great, I mean it. He has that awesome Midwest flow and its sick) and his lyrics are good. This guy sounds like he's from Texas, and had it not been for the name of the mixtape I would have sworn he was. Now, thats not a bad thing, rappers like Bun B will always have a place in rap. I will buy this guys album when it comes out.

Nipsey Hussle, what can I say about this guy? Dude looks like a 60 year old, has odd hair and never opens his eyes. BUT, if you havent heard about him, you need to. He is a street rapper, not much else to him, he has a few songs that take on a deeper meaning(when he does these types of songs I like him more). I listened to the 'Bullets Ain't Got No Name' series, 1 - 3. 1 was rough, raw. 2 was more polished. 3 was even more polished. Which is to be expected, yet, all 3 were good. He has good word-play, good flow and good beat selection. If one of these three are gonna blow up into something special, I think its gonna be him. He has the whole west coast behind him and with that, comes little competition. Since the west is somewhat weak right now, if he drops a dope album, this guy should blow the fuck up across the country. I think everyone is sort of in need of a classic album from the west and he could be the one to deliver it. But he needs to do it soon or someone like Jay Rock may come along and snag that spot as the right hand man to Game and Dre.

So after all of the listening and thinking Ill rank em like this. Freddie Gibbs>Nipsey>Big Sean.
